#1:BLACK+DECKER Small Portable Washer, Washing Machine for Household Use, Portable Washer 0.9 Cu. Ft. with 5 Cycles, Transparent Lid & LED Display
Perfect for people with limited space.
If you don't have a lot of room in your home and don't have a washer hookup, this is a perfect washing machine for that. It is light and portable and simple to hook up to your sink for water and drain.
It can do deceptively large loads for its size. We consistently do loads about 1/2 the size we used to in our old place with a full size washer. The only thing this little workhorse wouldn't be able to do is our bedspread.
We had a different brand machine prior to this one, and the build quality and dependability of this Black and Decker is so much better. It obviously pays to purchase a name brand, lesson learned.
The only negative we've found is the secondary door on the drum inside the unit is small so putting things like sheets is a little bit of a hassle. (What is that door for anyway? Is it for safety or to stop water from sloshing from the drum? Inquiring platypuses need to know)
Large capacity for a portable
This portable is very large but the trade off is as others have said you can wash top and bottom sheets in one load, you can wash a full sized "fluffy" blanket without overloading the washer. For us the wash cycle was a bit noisy, spin and rinse pretty quiet for a machine in use in your living space. Highly recommend a "washer stand with wheels" over "furniture cart" or "washing machine dolly". The adjustable legs add stability for the washer when in use. Without the four wheels at each corner this machine is not easily manuvered. The "hand holds" are setup for "team lift" / so two right handed people facing each other have a hand hold at their right hand for safely lifting this washer. The instructions say do not roll over carpet. The rollers will not go over even a kitchen matt. Hope these details help you have a smooth installation of a very good "portable" washer. Cleans clothing very well and without a agitator the items washed seem more gently cleaned / handled.
Off-Grid Solution!
I did quite a bit of research regarding power and water consumption, and I hoped this worked as advertised, and it did. I can monitor the power usage and it never draws more than 24 watts. From what I’ve read it consumes 83 watts over the entire cycle. I have a back-up generator, but I don’t need to use it for the washer on a sunny day. And that’s a fall day in Maine. It doesn’t clean as well as a full size unit, but it does a decent job of cleaning the clothes and gets the great majority of the dirt, and all of the smells out. It will pay for itself in less than 11 months and save many hours wasted traveling to a laundromat.
Yes yes yes!! 🙌
This machine is nearly perfect! 99/100
Looks great runs well is quiet and balanced. Easy to hook up and clean, does an excellent job cleaning, no leakes, I can't say enough good things. I use the faucet as a connection and its very easy to attach to my sink. I'm disabled and didn't have a unit in my apartment and this is a GAME CHANGER for laundry. 0 regrets and wish I'd have done it ages ago!!!
What's that 1 out of 100 it's missing you ask? The soap holder is crap. Lol it just runs right into the machine so why bother? This doesn't bother me at all bc I usually just put soap straight in anyway. I have put this thing through paces last 2 months for sure and it's a work horse. Just follow the directions to a T. Not press the boundaries and this thing will make sure it gets done and well!
I adore this purchase. It's not often I have felt this good about spending this much but this is one of those times. If your on the fence, jump off and get one.
I love this thing!
My life is changed ya’ll!!! I have had my machine for about 3 days now and I have washed quite a bit already. FYI the heavy load takes forever! Mainly the water level is higher in the large load. So I usually cut it short after the 1st rinse. Heavy has 2 rinse cycles. I hate to waste so much water and I find my clothes don’t require a second rinse. See photo of cycle times. This is the one thing I never saw in any of the reviews. Hopefully this is helpful to someone. So after the first rinse, I usually power off the machine. It does hold more than you think. But Don’t over stuff it. It’s pretty daggone quiet. It’s easy to forget you are washing clothes in your place. I don’t keep the faucet on the entire time. I turn it off once the wash cycle is begun. Mainly because the seal to my pipe leaks a bit at the sink connection point. I wish there was a way to prevent that. Then after I hear the spin cycle begin I monitor the machine and I turn on the faucet in time for the rinse cycle. So that part is a bit tedious. I did get a dolly to put it on. It’s not hard to lift but I truly did not want to be bothered with lifting. The dolly is much easier. Yes, it has wheels but to be honest they are awkward to use. Get a dolly if you don’t want to lift it back n forth. You do not need a lot of detergent. I have the open nature powder pods. I cut one open with a scissor and pour it in. That works perfectly. I do use scent beads cause I love fragrant laundry! They dissolve perfectly in the wash. Be sure to only add about a tablespoon of beads. Overall this machine requires less detergent, softener etc that large machines. Only use HE detergent. You don’t want a Sud problem on your hands. I think that’s everything. Just get it! You’re gonna love it!
